Mangaluru, Dec 20: Leader of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and industrialist Padmanabha Kamath passed away on Sunday December 20, at his residence. He was 91.
He was a former trustee of Madanantheshwara Temple in Manjeshwar, Kasargod.
During the Emergency imposed by the Indira Gandhi government, Padmanabha Kamath was imprisoned for one-and-half years in Kannur jail.
Kamath founded the Dakshina Kannada unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and also played an instrumental role in shaping the party in Manjeshwar.

Kamath was engaged in various businesses including transport.
Padmanabha Kamath is survived by his son Mohandas Kamath who resides in Kuwait, and two daughters.
