Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 23: The Health department contacted all the 58 people on December 23, who arrived from Britain to the international airport here between December 7 and December 22, and started swab test for coronavirus.

So far three people out of the 58 have tested negative for the test. They will be placed in home quarantine for 14 days. Those who test positive for the test will be admitted to the hospital as per the sources in the health department. All the international passengers have to undergo RTPCR test from December 23 compulsorily.

Meanwhile, those who arrived in Udupi from the UK have tested negative for the coronavirus test. Eight people had recently arrived from the UK to the city. There was more concern as a new variant of Covid-19 virus was found in England. All the eight people are placed under home quarantine for 14 days as a precautionary measure.

DHO of Udupi district said, “Eight passengers had arrived from UK on December 21. One person from Kundapur, four from Udupi, and three from Karkala were tested. No question about tracing primary contacts as they are tested negative. If any sort of Covid symptoms are noticed, they will be tested again. All the 8 persons will be tested again after 14 days of home quarantine.  

The Karnataka government is collecting information on passengers, who have arrived in the state from England since November 25. The information is being gathered mainly from the international airports at Bengaluru and Mangaluru.
