Mangaluru: Sushasan, Kisan Samman Divas to be observed on Dec 25

Mangaluru, Dec 23: BJP state unit president Nalin Kumar Kateel on Wednesday, December 23 said that Bharatiya Janata Party along with Raitha Morcha Karnataka will observe the birthday of Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25 as 'Sushasan Divas' and Kisan Samman Divas.

Speaking in a press meet here on Wednesday, December 23 at the district BJP office, Nalin Kumar said, "On December 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release (the first instalment) Rs 18,000 crore directly into bank accounts of 9.5 crore farmers in the country under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana."

"Later, the Prime Minister will address farmers at 12 pm on December 25. Sushasan Divas and Kisan Samman Divas will be observed in district and taluk units, where Election Code Conduct is not in force. Progressive farmers will be honoured during the occasion. This programme will be observed at APMCs and cooperative sectors," he said.

The programme will be also observed in Mangaluru at T V Raman Pai Hall on December 25.

He also said that the farmers are happy in the country given the several developmental programmes by the government for their advantage.

Speaking on the protest by farmers against the Farm Acts, Nalin Kumar said, "The government had discussed with farmers, even in future it will hold dialogue with farmers to resolve the crisis."
Further, he also said that those who protest are not farmers, but people who are politicising the matter in the name of farmers.

In his reply to queries of media persons regarding the night curfew in the state from 11 pm to 5 am till January 2, Nalin Kumar said, "The decision by the government on imposing night curfew, should not be seen on the lines of religion or caste. The decision was taken to ensure the safety of citizens and following the guidelines from the World Health Organisation.

He also said that several countries have cancelled international flights and curfew has been also imposed across several countries.
