The divisional bench of Kalaburagi, which conducted the inquiry on the Habeas Corpus application filed by Tharabai of Kalaburagi on the missing of her son, ordered this punishment.

Suresh, son of Tharabai, went missing on October 20. As the police did not receive her complaint, she approached the high court. Later, on the order of the court, the police traced Suresh.

The high court bench opined, "It is a serious dereliction of duty to not consider the complaint of a mother of her missing son. The police have not entered the details of the case in their station dairy. Thereby the station officer has violated the rights of the applicant. So we are ordering this punishment."

The court also felt that the whole development of the case, missing son of applicant and the working style of the police officers is detrimental to the welfare of the society.

Good job. Some of the government servants need to be reminded they are public servants and not bosses. Some of them have forgotten the public pays their salaries. Some of them dont even care about if they are dealing with a senior citizen or women. They are just not sensitive towards their role in the society. Good job to the high court Judge for this unique punishment. This has to become common practice

instead of asking him to sweep the road, the high court should have asked his superiors to dismiss him from duty he is unfit to be a cop.
