Mangaluru, Dec 24: “Tulunadu is changing rapidly. Even the people, culture and their traditions are changing in Tulunadu. Amid such changes, programmes connecting people socially, should happen constantly. Thus, organisations like Rangachavadi are essential for overall development of human beings. So, in this regard, efforts of Rangachavadi is laudable,” said businessman and state BJP executive committee member Gurume Suresh Shetty.

He was speaking after inaugurating Rangachavadi award ceremony organised by Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy and Rangachavadi, cultural and literary organisation at Sirichavadi in Tulubhavana, Urwa Store on Wednesday December 23.

On the occasion, 'Rangachavadi Honorary Award' was conferred on singer and music director Muralidhar Kamath Konchady.

After receiving the award, Muralidhar Kamath said, "It is because of my family, friends and well-wisher’s support, I could achieve something in my life. The work of Rangachavadi in supporting talents should continue forever. Several artistes should be inspired by this noble deed."

Tulu Sahitya Academy president Dayanand Kathalsar said, "The work of Rangachavadi of identifying talents of Tulunadu and honouring them and increasing their responsibility is appreciable. We should congratulate convener Jaganath Shetty Bala for his immense efforts. Tulu Sahitya Academy will always support such programme even in future. The Tulu scripture has a history of 2,500 years and there are 2.5 crore Tulu speaking people in the world. Hence, we should put immense effort to include Tulu language in the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution and make it as a recognized regional language.”

Prasad Kumar Shetty of Goldfinch, Santhosh Kumar Shetty of Surathkal Matha Developers Private Limited, businessman Ramanath Shetty Baikampadi, Yadhav Kotian Permude of Divyaroop Constructions, Surathkal Bunts Association president Sudhakar Poonja, Rangachavadi convener Jaganath Shetty Bala, senior theatre artiste V G Pal, and Tulu Sahitya Academy registrar Rajesh G were present.
