Udupi, Jun 2: The state government on Tuesday June 1, decided to pay salary to which Sridhar, a constable attached to Byndoor police station, was eligible, to his family during the remaining period of his notional service. Sridhar was stabbed by the miscreants on May 31, when he was helping the other policemen to nab them.
This decision was taken on Tuesday at Bangalore, after homes minister, Dr V S Acharya, and state director general of police, Dr Ajai Kumar Singh, met the Chief Minister. As a special case, the decision to continue to pay salary to which the slain policeman was eligible to, to his family during the remaining years of his service as per records, was taken during the discussions. This facility in normal course is applicable only in the case of the policemen who die during their fight against the naxals and terrorists.
After the retirement age of the victim, the family will start receiving family pension, it is learnt.
