Udupi, Dec 25: “Peace on earth will come to stay, when we live Christmas everyday”- Helen Steiner Rice.
Christmas means birth of Christ is celebrated on 25th December all over the world.
Christmas is the festival which inspires the spirit of sharing and caring. With this spirit in mind the Don Bosco English Medium School, Shirva came together in this unprecedented year of pandemic, where there were no students, no laughter, no mirth, yet as a family, with its management, teaching staff, admin staff and supportive staff to share the joy of Christmas 2020.
On December 22, in the beautifully decorated school, a modest celebration was held. The chief guest of the day Msgr Baptist Menezes, the vicar general of Udupi diocese, blessed all the employees of Don Bosco School. In his address to the gathering Msgr stressed on the three vaccines i.e love, joy and peace to be shared among ourselves and in our neighborhood.
The correspondent of the school Fr Denis D’Sa in his message highlighted the significance of the Crib. Every search of looking for Christ has to end in the Crib. Everyone has an obligation to take care of the nature as the Crib is the representation of Paradise. He also called upon to carry Christ around by radiating joy, peace and happiness wherever we go.
Th entire school vibrated with Christmas carols sung in bilingual languages followed by angel dance . A tableau depicting the contemporary scenario where today Christ could be encountered in the poor, marginalised and suffering humanity was enacted by the school teachers. The arrival of Santa brought cheer and hope for a peaceful better year ahead. To share the joy of Christmas, kuswar was distributed. The boundless joy of celebrating Christmas ended with sumptuous meal. Myrtle L F Lewis, the principal welcomed the gathering and Cynthia Pereira proposed the vote of thanks. Savitha Masaram compered the programme.
