Puttur: Election officials seize chits carrying symbols of candidates

Puttur, Dec 27: Assistant commissioner Yathish Ullal on Sunday December 27 directed the election officials to seize a set of chits carrying symbols of candidates in one of the booths outside the polling station in Hantyar school in Puttur.

When assistant commissioner Yathish Ullal visited the spot he noticed a voter holding a chit carrying symbols of candidates. Immediately, he asked the election officers to seize the chit.

On further inquiry with a person in one of the booths, the assistant commissioner found a set of chits with symbols of candidates outside the polling station.

Speaking to daijiworld, assistant commissioner Yathish Ullal said, "A set of chits carrying the candidates' symbols were found. I have asked the election officer to seize the chits."

Polling in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts for the second and final phase of the gram panchayat election began on Sunday December 27. Voting is being held today to elect 1,500 gram panchayat members belonging to 114 panchayats spread over Beltangady, Puttur, Kadaba and Sullia taluks. In Udupi district, people are voting to elect 1,178 gram panchayat members from 86 taluks spread over Kundapur, Karkala and Kaup taluks.
