Sullia, Dec 27: Bellare police have taken into custody a person who was contesting the Kalmadka gram panchayat election being held on Sunday December 27.
Hukrappa alias Narayana Puchama was arrested on the allegation of raping a minor girl who happens to be his close relative.
Hukrappa is a BJP-supported candidate fighting from ward 1 of Kalmadka gram panchayat.
The arrest took place a day before the election, on Saturday December 26.

The family members of the aggrieved girl had complained to the police that the accused had raped the daughter of his uncle, who is still a minor.
On the basis of the complaint, the Bellare police arrested him and began questioning him.
