Mangalore, Jun 5: Heavy downpour was experienced in Subrahmanya and surrounding areas for about two hours on the evening of Friday June 4. Bellare, Chokkady and some other regions of Sullia taluk also received heavy rains.
As Kannadi rivulet flowing along Subrahmanya town overflowed, water entered the homes of several people located near Devaragadde area. As deep drains had been dug by the public works department on both sides of the road at Subrahmanya a couple of days ago, standing water created problems for the people to reach their destinations. Water gushed into several shops, and overflowing drains heaped waste materials on the road, giving rise to traffic snarls.
Even though the entire Dakshina Kannada district experienced cloudy weather the whole day on Friday, resulting in a slight dip in the temperature, other than light drizzle in Beltangady, Puttur and some other places, rains were not reported from other places. Udupi district largely remains free from any rain, although cloudy weather was seen all over the district, and light showers did appear in a few places on Friday morning.
Bangalore got some rains. Meteorological department has predicted rains to visit several places in the state during the next 24 hours.
