Udupi: Asare Charitable Trust gives free electricity to four SC houses

Udupi, Jan 2: On the occasion of New Year 2021, Asare Charitable Trust Udupi has provided free electricity connection to four houses of Scheduled Caste community in Kasturba Nagar ward of Udupi Municipality on Friday, January.

Minister for Muzarai and Religious Endowment Kota Srinivas Poojary inaugurated the programme which also coincided his birthday. Meanwhile, MLA Raghupathi Bhat, City Municipality Council president Sumithra Nayak switched the electricity connection board.

Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said, "This is a meaningful project planned by Asare Charitable Trust and it has already provided free electricity connection to 63 poor family houses. Where there is no basic infrastructure to connect electric poles, the trust has provided solar lights. The Central government is ensuring that it will put efforts in providing electricity connection to all needy and poor houses by 2022. Let's trust may do many such social services in days to come," Poojary said.

The electricity connection along with the electrical materials provided to the houses of Susheela, Ramananda, Padma and Mahalinga was sponsored by Hariprasad, owner of Chirag Electricals, Kadiyali. The solar panel installed at the house of Sundar Naik was sponsored by SELCO Solar, Udupi.

Vasanth Bhat, president, Asare Charitable Trust Udupi, Satish Kulal, treasurer, Dinkar Babu, president, Udupi Zilla panchayat, Annayya Sherigar, president, Babbuswamy temple management board, Srinivas, head of the committee were present.

K Raghavendra Kini, General Secretary of the Ganeshotsava Committee welcomed the gathering.
