Goa conducts dry run of Covid-19 vaccination exercise


Panaji, Jan 2 (IANS): The Goa government on Saturday carried out a dry run of the Covid-19 vaccination exercise at three government health facilities and one private hospital in the state, Health Secretary Amit Satija said.

Satija also said that barring the actual vaccination, the dry run conducted by the state administration, covered all aspects of the vaccination exercise, which involves testing the use of cold chain and transportation facilities, manpower and biomedical waste handling.

"In Goa, the trial run was carried out at three government centres, namely public health centres at Panaji, Aldona and Corlim and a private facility Healthway Hospital. The entire dry run exercise involved going through all aspects of vaccination, excluding the administering of live vaccines," Satija said.

"We have tested our cold chain, transportation, manpower facilities, biomedical waste handling, etc," the official said, adding that the dry run was monitored by the United Nations Development Programme officials.

Goa currently has 930 active Covid-19 cases, while the total count of Covid-19 cases in Goa is pegged at 51,135 cases.
