Mangalore, Jun 7: A delegation representing the south zone committee of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) has demanded for the dismissal of the local city corporation’s assistant executive engineer, Linge Gowda, from service. The delegation alleged that Linge Gowda was involved with corrupt practices.
The delegation was led by president of INTUC south zone, J Nagendra, who happens to be a city corporator. The delegation had opposition leader in the city council, D K Ashok Kumar, corporators, Appi, Gulzar Banu, Navin R D’Souza, south zone Youth Congress president, Pravinchandra Alva, INTUC general secretary, Sudhakar J and several others, as its members. It met city mayor, Rajani Dugganna, city commissioner, Dr Vijayaprakash, and handed over a memorandum, spelling out its demand.
In its memorandum, INTUC alleged that Linge Gowda has prejudice against the women people’s representatives and that he always blocks demands and works relating to them. It further said that Gowda’s behaviour with the people’s representatives was unreasonable, he interferes with the execution of various works and gets involved with irregularities by paving way for substandard works. It also pointed out that Linge Gowda had recently assaulted his junior engineer, and that a case had been registered against him in this regard, at Barke police station, in support of its demand.
