Mandya, Jan 4: The police are expected to be impartial and upright. They should not appease others as their image might erode in the eyes of the people. They are expected to be the servants of common people, not officials and political leaders. But a shameful incident concerning the police happened in Mandya and the people are angry about it.

In an incident which took place at KRS Mayura Hotel in Srirangapatna taluk in the district, a police sub-inspector lowered himself to the level of a server of the BJP leaders and government officials. He served food to them, which has met with derision from the people.

Minister for mines C C Patil, and sericulture minister Narayana Gowda, were on tour on Saturday. BJP leaders and officials had got seated for dinner with the ministers. KRS police station sub-inspector Naveen Gowda, was seen serving them food with his uniform on.

The people have been wondering whether a police sub-inspector in uniform can indulge in such things. Many have criticized the sub-inspector. People feel that such things go to hurt the belief the common people have in the policemen.
