Bengaluru: Bad quality of vaccine for cattle foot-and-mouth disease - Rs 7 crore goes down drain

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 5: In a worrying information, it is gathered that thanks to substandard vaccines, the vaccine for foot-and-mouth disease of the cattle that was administered to 1.15 crore animals in the state, has gone to waste. This information has come at a time when discussions about the quality of the coronavirus vaccine are being held everywhere.

Because of this faux pas, thousands of animals are suffering silently while about six to seven crore rupees given by the central government went waste.

The union department of animal husbandry has said that the quality of vaccine used in the state was not good. It has written to the state government, alerting it about the quality of the vaccine. The vaccine had been acquired by the state government from Indian Immunological Ltd through tender. Samples of the vaccine tested by Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Indian Veterinary Research Institute have confirmed that the quality of this vaccine was not good.

The central government spent about seven crore rupees in acquiring the vaccine and eight crore rupees in administering it. The efforts made by thousands of staff and amount spent have now gone down the drain.

The vaccine against foot-and-mouth disease was started by the central government under which the vaccine is administered twice a year from 2008. This disease has devastated thousands of farmers as it debilitates animals, sick cattle do not lactate, they cannot be used for agricultural operations and there is a high rate of death.

The central government has now asked the state to stop the current vaccination programme or start administering the vaccine again. Veterinary experts feel that if the vaccine is not administered again immediately, the disease can again raise its ugly head and become infectious.

Hope they have not exchanged the vaccines of corona and cattle.I cant understand how come they had given out bad quality cattle vaccine without testing?and tests should be carried out before releasing. Now sue this lab or firm production ,or responsible person.Give him one of this to test.!such stupids are increasing.Govt is simply sheds off its responsibility by calling tender and never again try to see if it was successful and its standard. Now noone will take the cows from sheds are safe .and meat price too will be low.

"May be that clause is deleted intentionally"

    He He He....

Just as in 'Adani Airports' the clause 'not allowed to sub-let or the contract will be null/void upon subletting' never seem to be existing. The guy royally got a German company work for him in exchange of foreign currency in his Swiss Bank account. No wonder the ex-FM had said 'not all the money in Swiss Bank is BLACK' Because by that time he had identified who is friend and who is foe.

What an example of 'Sab ka vikaas' !!!!

this is only an eye wash. Crores were looted by industrialists in the name of vaccine to cattle. What a joke. Govt has money to waste like this but no money to help poors and needy people. This Govt is completely failed and we need a change. Enough is enough. However, many are still closed their mouths as they have money in it. They have sold their consious in the hands of looters and decoits who are cheating tax payers by billions. Industrialists are making money without any break and poors are dying. Nearly 100 farmers died agitating against black farmer bill, but no effect on Govt which is like a dead body.

Kiska baap ka gayaa ? we the taxpayers are the drudgery labour

Imagine a different government in state ! Cow worshipers would have been ready with guns. Nevertheless, no slaughter is permitted. Elimination has to take place, let the diseases take their lead.
