Bengaluru: Bonanza for girls willing to marry Hindu priests, to receive bonds worth Rs 3 lac

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 6: Taking into consideration the fact that more and more girls are showing disinclination to marry Hindu priests, the government has planned to announce a scheme of rewarding the girls agreeing for such marriages. The scheme will be set into motion on Wednesday January 6 by the chief minister.

Under the scheme, girls marrying the priests will receive bonds amounting to Rs three lac from Brahmin Development Board. The scheme is named 'Maitri'.

The beneficiaries will be eligible to encash the bond at the end of three years.

This information was given by the state Brahmin Development Board chairman, S H Sachidananda. He said that for the first time, bonds of Rs three lac would be issued to brides under the 'Maitri' scheme. He said that most of the priests and those involved with the profession of performing religious rituals have remained unmarried as the girls are dithering from marrying them.

He said that in the same way, the board will be granting Rs 25,000 as financial assistance for the marriage of poor girls, and financial assistance for borewell and owning of tractor and undertaking dairying activity to families owning less than five acres of land.

Bonanza is another issue, but selecting a person for marriage should be always on the basis of credentials; not for money!
Does the marriage consented mainly because of Rs.3 lakhs Govt bonanza can survive ?

This is a serious issue and not at all a joke. It's about life and the future. To have a family system, the first step is to get married.

I have read elsewhere that since this scheme has come up at the behest of Brahmin Development Board, this scheme is applicable only for Brahmin priesta and only Brahmin girls marrying them.

Why these priests are not getting girls to marry ? My opinion is they are not eating non vegetarian food and they do not have power to turn on the wife. In marriage, it is not the length of the barrel, but the strength of the bullet that is important.

They (Brahmin community) have to get up for their prayers, ablutions and rituals. Even their children get up early to study. That is their custom. I heard from my classmates and also from friends......i heard this too, now a days girls move backwards to get married to a priest because of so much work...and this is the main cause many Hindu priests didnt get married.....One of my neighbours knows one family where four brothers also priest and no one got married till last year (now i dont know). Because girls study. But, there are very few who have completed their MSc and got married to the priests...This is the unfortunate modern world.

Mangalurean,. This sickness is almost every community. Not only with them. When mothers run here and there to finish their work before she gets ready to work, grown up girls and boys either sleep or if awake will be on fb/instagram... without even brushing their teeths and bath...
