Kundapur, Jan 6: Mass marriage programme of government of Karnataka was held at Kollur Sri Mookambika temple on Wednesday January 6. Four pairs tied the knot and entered into a new phase of their lives.

The grooms were given Rs 5,000 each in cash and the bride was given Rs 10,000 and golden Mangalasutra by the government. Kollur temple administration gave saree to the bride, panche to bridegroom and a photo of Kollur Goddess.

Sri Ravishankar Guruji was present on the occasion and blessed the newly married couples.

Inaugurating the programme, Byndoor MLA Sukumar Shetty said, "Getting married in the holy temple of Kollur is really destiny. One needs the blessing of Goddess Sri Mookambika to get married here. It is better to get married in a simple manner in a temple, rather than spending lacs of rupees."

Religious rituals were led by Gajanana Joshi, priest of the temple. Executive officer and management committee of the temple were present.
