Kasargod: NIA to probe seven locals deported by UAE for ISIS connection

Kasargod, Jan 7: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken up the investigation of seven persons from here who had been deported by the UAE for their ISIS connections.

NIA has seized the passports of these seven who hail fromKasargod, Trikkariplura and Padanna. These seven were in prison at the UAE after they were arrested on the allegation of joining ISIS. They had been deported during the month of October.

On their arrival here, both the police and the intelligence department had interrogated them and collected information. Now, NIA has summoned them to Kochi where they are being questioned. Their passports and other important documents have been taken by the agency.

There is information that many from Padanna here and other parts of the state had reached ISIS centres via Dubai. Some of them had died in the American drone attacks.
