Kundapur, Jun 10: A person named Abdul Razak (35) from Maravante in the taluk, who was diagnosed with H1N1 infection, breathed his last at Manipal Hospital on Wednesday June 9.
Razack, originally from Bhatkal and now residing at Maravante, was employed in Saudi Arabia. He had come back on a visit to native place, two months back. He had got admitted into a private hospital here, complaining of persistent fever.
In the meanwhile, mysterious fever continues to haunt people of Sampaje and Todikana in Sullia taluk. Blood samples of the concerned have already been forwarded to the district laboratory for diagnosis, doctors of Sullia hospital said. Although fever is a common phenomenon during the early weeks of monsoon every year, there have been instances in which the people have been diagnosed with dengue, malaria etc. The district health department has been undertaking measures to survey the villages and send blood samples of people suffering from fever for unduly long periods, to the district laboratory, it is learnt.
