Bangalore, Jun 10: With the dismissal of a suit that had questioned the transfer of Gokarna Lord Mahabaleshwara Temple to Sri Ramachandrapur Mutt by a two-member bench of the state High Court on Wednesday June 9, the government has secured the sixth victory in a row, in suits filed against its above decision in different courts. The present petition had been filed by a person named Gajanan Samba Dixit, contending that he should have been included as one of the parties to the earlier suits.
The two-member bench, comprising Justice N Kumar and Justice Kempannavar, while rejecting the petition, felt that there was no need to include Dixit as a party to the suit relating the temple transfer. Lawyer, Dinesh Kumar, had presented arguments on behalf of the state government. Lawyers, Jayakumar Patil and V P Kulkarni, had appeared on behalf of Sri Ramachandrapur Mutt.
Relating to the development, Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji said that the verdict has come as per the wishes of Lord Mahabaleshwara, presiding deity of Gokarna temple, and that he had no role to play in it. “We will continue to perform pujas and offer other services to the Lord as long as He wants,” he added. He said that he had accepted the temple management by regarding it as a noble service, and wanted all disputes on the temple transfer to end soon, as disputes create hurdles in faster development of the temple.
