Panaji, Jan 16: Congress state president Girish Chodankar said that the government agreed to shift the IIT-Goa campus only because of political interest and not out of respect for people. He challenged the state government and said that if they really respect the sentiments of the people, it should scrap the three linear project coming up at Mollem, Congress said.

Chodankar further added that 'Tiranga Satyagraha' is kept on hold and if the government fails to officially scrap the IIT-Goa campus at Melauli and withdraw cases against the protesters, the Satyagraha will be revived.

"The true test of respecting public sentiments will be seen from his actions as regards to double-tracking, four-laning of the national highway and laying of power transmission lines," Chodankar said.

"The chief minister Pramod Sawant came to his senses only when health minister Vishwajit Rane realized that the wrath of the people was threatening his political career and he demanded to scrap the IIT campus," Chodankar added.
