Two Tyres of Air India Plane Burst on Landing, Close Shave for Passengers

NEW DELHI, Jun 15 (PTI): Over 100 people on board an Air India plane had a close shave when two tyres of the left landing gear of the aircraft deflated soon after it landed at the IGI airport here today.

"Air India's Mumbai-Bhopal-Indore-Delhi flight (IC-133) with 100 passengers and six crew members landed at Delhi airport around 10.58 a.m and was taxiing towards the parking bay when engineers at the ground noticed two deflated tyres of the left landing gear and sparks emanating due to friction," an airline official said.

They then immediately informed the pilot and asked him to stop the Airbus-320 aircraft.

The crash fire tenders were immediately called in, which sprinkled water and foam to cool the aircraft's undercarriage in order to prevent any fire, he said, adding "all the passengers onboard are safe".

According to sources, there was no tyre burst as the pilot did not notice any unusual jerk. "The tyres got deflated after the aircraft had landed and while it was taxiing," they said.

Air India must CLOSE for good. If they cannot manage their business they have no right to play with people's lives. We have just lost 3 of our family members in the recent M'lore aircrash and I don't think anyone has anymore strength to bear any such losses. This is criminal and they must just close for good instead of endorsing their poor state of affairs every now and then.

I don't understand the headline. tyres burst while landing and the pilot does not notice that? how is it possible. either the headline is wrong or the planes tyres got deflated while taxing which is uncommon. whatever the headlines said that close shave for passengers also does not justify the news.

God's Providence for the passengers and the crew too & specially for Air India. As we all know it is hardly a month ago that we witnessed a disaster with this airline here in Mangalore. May be Air India needs to keep a close watch on maintainance of aircrafts, air worthiness of flights. Any negligence from airline side can cost so many lives n then huge money as compensation..!! Just b'coz it is a Govt career, are the authorities taking things lightly? Please treat the safety of airline passengers, crew and also credibilty of our national career on top priority...!!!
