Karkala, Jan 22: A girl student of a college filed a complaint in the town police station here on Wednesday January 20, stating that she was raped. She said that she was waiting at Karkala to go to her college when she was picked in a car, offered juice laced with sedatives, and raped after she became unconscious.

The town police have since arrested the accused, identified as Pranesh (38) from Uppinangady.

"On a day in January, Pranesh, who knows my paternal uncle well, who was seated in a car, offered to drop me at the college. Bending under his pleas, I travelled with him. He took me to a house in Bandaru, Uppinangady, and raped me. Thereafter, he claimed that he has the video recording of the rape and also my nude photos. He threatened to expose the video and photos if I did not cooperate with him or revealed about the rape to others, and to kill me.

Pranesh 

"On January 12, 2021, he again came to Karkala, forcibly made me ride a motorbike which he was riding, and raped me at a house near Guddeangady that belongs to the owner for whom the accused works," she explained in the complaint.

It is learnt that Pranesh has married a lady from Hiriadka. It is said that the victim also is his distant relative.

The town police station staff, who have registered the complaint, are probing the same.
