Udupi, Feb 1: “The government’s hesitation to withdraw anti-farmer farm bills is condemnable. The people are suspicious of the government’s stand about the bills even after mass protests. The centre is already selling public enterprises to corporate organizations one by one. The intention of selling farmer’s land to corporate companies is hidden in the farm bills,” said district Congress president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor. He was speaking in the Congress executive committee meeting held at district Congress Bhavan.
He said that a Janadhwani rally by walk will be held by the district Congress during February in support of countrywide protests in progress opposing disastrous anti-farmer bills. “The rally will begin from Kaup and proceed via Udupi-Kundapur and conclude at Byndoor. We have decided to invite party leaders in the state for it,” he said.
Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said that the government has doubled the cooking gas prices and cancelled its subsidy. “It is looting common people by increasing the prices of petrol and diesel. The rally will be held urging to withdraw the farm bills and implement the demands of the farmers. The rally will be a success whenever a party leader indulges to involve farmers and party activists in large numbers in it,” he said.
