Bengaluru, Feb 3: Narayama Ramachandra Hegde (30) from Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district stands arrested for posing as MLA's gunman and collecting money with the promise of securing government jobs. He was arrested by the Upparpet police here. A cigarette lighter looking like a gun with which he impressed people, was recovered from his pocket.
Hegde used to claim himself as the gunman of Dharwad MLA, Amrut Ayyappa Desai. He promised Venkatesh from Davanagere to get the job of gardener in the city armed reserve police and demanded Rs 30,000 which he said has to be paid for the job. He collected the first instalment of Rs 12,000, said western division deputy commissioner of police, Sanjeev M Patil.
Narayana used to dress himself in Safari clothes, keep a fake gun in his pocket, get clean shaven, and take pictures in the company of the staff of the armed reserve police office, vehicle etc. He had uploaded these photos in the Facebook from where he used to send friend requests.
After collecting money, he had switched off his mobile phone.
