Udupi: District police department holds road safety drive

Udupi, Feb 3: District additional superintendent of police (ASP) Kumarchandra flagged off a bike rally to mark the week-long drive to raise road safety awareness among public on Wednesday February 3.

National Road Safety week programme was organized by the district police department, Udupi town station, Udupi circle station, and Rotary Udupi. The bike rally began from Jodukatte main roads till Indrali and from Kalsanka junction to Santhekatte.

ASP Kumarchandra said, “We are organizing this drive to create awareness on road safety. Public should adhere to rules to avoid accidents. The number of accident cases is increasing in the district just because of violation of traffic rules. Recently, the police department has launched number 112 and Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) vehicles across the state for helping citizens in emergency cases. Twelve ERSS vehicles are operating in the district.”

Udupi DYSP Sadananda Nayka, Saktivelu, Udupi town sub-inspector, Femina Violet, women’s police station officer, Abdul Khadar, traffic sub-inspector, Thimmesh B N, Malpe station and others were present.
