Bengaluru, Feb 4 (IANS): Karnataka registered 426 new Covid cases in a day while 433 patients recovered during the last 24 hours, said the state health bulletin on Wednesday.

"With 426 new cases on Tuesday, the state's Covid tally increased to 9,40,596, including 5,915 active, while recoveries rose to 9,22,437, with 433 discharged in the last 24 hours," said the bulletin.

The virus claimed only 2 lives, including 1 each in Bengaluru and Hassan, taking the state's death toll to 12,225 till date.

In Bengaluru, 231 fresh cases were registered on Tuesday, taking its Covid tally to 3,99,517, including 3,856 active cases, while recoveries rose to 3,91,263, with 159 discharged in a day.

Of the 146 patients in the intensive care unit (ICUs), 74 are in Bengaluru hospitals and 13 in Kalaburagi, while rest are spread across the southern state.

Out of 70,766 tests conducted during the day, 4,848 were through rapid-antigen detection and 65,918 through RT-PCR method.

Positivity rate was 0.60 per cent and case fatality rate 0.46 per cent across the state on Tuesday.

With pulse polio drive underway, vaccination drive was conducted at Belagavi in the state's northwest region, with 270 of the 331 registered beneficiaries took the shot, achieving 82 per cent of the target.
