Mangaluru: Hair donation drive held at CODP as part of World Cancer Day

Mangaluru, Feb 4: CODP organization Mangaluru, Caritas India, Sparsha project, JCI Mangaluru, Disha and KMC Mangaluru jointly organised World Cancer Day at CODP premises on Thursday, February 4.

CODP organization director Fr Ozwald Monteiro in his address spoke about how cancer can be prevented and the significance of the event that was organised.

Dr Harish, Oncology department, KMC Hospital explained in detail the symptoms of cancer, the ways to identify and prevent it.

The hair of 39 out of 40 women and that of a man who was present will be sent to a hair bank in Thrissur, an organization based in Kerala, to prepare wigs for poor cancer patients. All the hair donors were honoured by a memento and a certificate on the occasion.

Volunteers to cut hair had arrived from Mercy Beauty Salon, Suma Beauty Parlour, Monalisa Beauty Parlour, Prathibha Beauty Salon and Prits Beauty Salon.

CODP organization’s Lynette and Mamatha compered the programme. CODP organization’s delegated director Fr Vincent D’ Souza rendered the vote of thanks. The programme was conducted by Sparsha Project staff Shilpa.
