Udupi, Feb 5: MLA K Raghupathi Bhat along with a delegation of the office bearers of Malpe Fishermen Association and fishermen’s leaders visited chief minister B S Yediyurappa and placed before him the demands of the fishermen.
Their demands included the distribution of diesel, free from sales tax at diesel delivery point, to not provide an extension to the contract of Tebma Shipyard and release of the package for dredging inside the port basin.
The chief minister who listened to the demands directed the officials to include them in the budget.
Malpe Fishermen Association president Krishna Suvarna, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district Fishermen Federation president Yashpal Suvarna, fishermen leaders Sathish Kunder, Dayananda Suvarna, Vittal Karkera, Karunakar Salian, Nagaraj Suvarna, Subhash Mendon, Kishore Suvarna, Mahesh Suvarna, Narayana Karkera, Raviraj Suvarna and others were present.
