Bengaluru, Feb 5: Pre-qualification tenders have been invited for the Rs 57.02 crore for the drinking water supply scheme covering several villages in the Kaup municipal limits from the Udyavar river, Urban Development minister B S Basavaraj informed the State Legislative Assembly on Friday.

Replying to a question from Lalaji R Mendon, the minister said the drinking water supply scheme is aimed at solving the problems of Kukalu, Moodabettu, Innanje and Pangala villages in Kaup civic body in Udupi district.

The Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Underground Drainage Board will be implementing the project.

Work on the project will be taken up after the Kaup municipality hands over the lands necessary, the minister said.

The commissioner for rural drinking water and sanitation department has been requested that the villages coming in the path of the project must also be included in the drinking water supply scheme.

No proposal for upgrading Devanahalli, Vijayapura civic bodies

The state government has not received any proposal for upgrading the Devanahalli and Vijayapura civic bodies, municipal administration and sugar minister M T B N Nagaraju informed Nisarga Narayana Swamy LN in the Assembly during the question hour.

The minister if a proposal was formally sent through the deputy commissioner of Bengaluru Rural district, the Government will examine it as per rules.
