Mangaluru: 'Agricultural laws will not harm the farmers' - Raitha Morcha

Mangaluru, Feb 5: Defending the union government's move on agricultural laws, members of BJP Raitha Morcha of Dakshina Kannada said that both the state and union government are working for the welfare of farmers. The laws introduced by the union government for agricultural reforms will not harm the farmers.

Addressing a press meet at the district BJP office here, Radhakrishna Bollur president of Raitha Morcha said, "Now the farmers can fix price for their products at their doorstep and can lead a self-reliant life after Narendra Modi's government passed new agricultural laws. They can even sell their products anywhere in the state."

"The agricultural reform laws will empower the farmers. If the farmers want to sell their products in APMC, they can do the same in any of APMC in the country. Even the farmers will get minimum support price for their products. Under the Atmanirbhar Bharat, the government allocated Rs 1 lac crore for the farmers. The government is constructing cold storage units to protect their products," he said.

He also said that the government will provide a Rs 2 lac crore loan to over 2.5 crore farmers through Kisan Credit Cards. "The government providing relief to the farmers for their crop loss under Fasal Bhima Yojana. Nearly, 23 crore farmers have registered under the scheme. Under Kisan Samman Yojana the union government is providing Rs 6,000 and the state government is giving Rs 4000 to the farmers," he added.

"Agricultural reforms will connect farmers directly to the market and send middlemen out of the system. Farmers will get more profit," Radhakrishna said.
