Mumbai: Nana Patole elected new state Congress chief

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb 6: Nana Patole was appointed as the new president of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Friday February 6 after Balasahed Thorat proposed to step down to uphold the party policy of 'one man, one post'. Patole resigned from the post on Thursday.

Six MPCC working presidents, ten vice-presidents, and 37 members of the parliamentary board were appointed along with Patole. The AICC dropped energy minister Nitin Raut, women and child welfare minister Yashomati Thakur, minister of state Vishwajeet Kadam and former legislator Muzzafar Hussain who were working presidents in the panel headed by Thorat.

Patole said that there was no discontent in the Maha Vikas Aghadi over his resignation from the speaker's post. "It is the internal decision of the Congress. The Congress leadership had spoken to Sharad Pawar and CM Uddhav Thackeray before taking the decision. Even Thorat and former CM Ashok Chavan were in the loop," Patole said.
