Kasargod, Feb 7: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) intensified its investigation of the twin muder case of Kripesh and Sharath Lal, activists of district Youth Congress. The CBI team conducted an investigation in the CPM zonal office at Uduma.
The investigating agency also gathered information from K Manikantan, block panchayat president of Kanhangad. It is said that the accused stayed in the CPM Uduma office after the murder. Later the team also visited the place where the accused are said to have burnt their clothes, which they wore during the act of crime. The team also met Latha, mother of deceased Sharat Lal and Krishnan, father of Kripesh and collected information. The team is led by CBI DySP Ananthkrishna.

Sharat Lal and Kripesh were murdered on the night of February 17, 2019 at Periya Kalyot. They were hacked to death with lethal weapons by a gang. After committing the act, it is alleged that the four accused stayed in the office of CPM and others at a house at Vellatholi as per the report given by the crime branch, which investigated the case earlier.
High court had given a CBI inquiry into the case long back. However, the implementation of the order got delayed as the Kerala government had submitted an appeal in this connection. As the Supreme Court quashed the appeal of the Kerala government a month ago, CBI intensified its investigation.
Peethambaran, regional committee secretary of CPM, is the first accused in the case. There are 14 accused in total in the case.
