Bantwal, Feb 7: In an interesting incident, a Congress-backed gram panchayat member of Veerakamba panchayat joined BJP in the morning but returned to Congress by evening. Lalitha on the morning of Sunday, February 7 had joined BJP in the presence of Bantwal MLA and BJP leader U Rajesh Naik.
However, Lalitha was quick to have a change of heart and return to Congress by evening in the presence of former MLA and Congress leader B Ramanath Rai.
In the Veerakamba panchayat, BJP-Congress each had seven seats. It was interesting to watch which party would get the majority. Making use of this opportunity, BJP put in motion, Operation Kamala and tried to poach Congress member Lalitha. Meanwhile, reports have stated that Lalitha was coerced to join BJP.
Former MLA B Ramanath Rai has also accused BJP of resorting aggressive means to obtain power and establish Operation Kamala across the country.
