Udupi, Feb 9: Students of schools and colleges in the towns, villages, student’s hostels and youth in organizations should be informed about Yuva Spandana programme to build a strong society, said deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha. He was speaking after presiding over a programme of Yuva Spandana coordination committee held at the auditorium of the deputy commissioner’s office.
On the occasion, DC said that posters of related providing professional guidance should be pasted at schools, colleges and hostels.
Youth empowerment and sports department assistant director, Dr Roshan Kumar Shetty said, "Yuva Spandana programme is in force in all the districts since the year 2014. The programme is developed by the youth and for the youth."
Yuva Spandana centre PRO, Sujan requested full support for the programme that helps youth between the age of 15 and 35 by providing them guidance on health, lifestyle, education and profession. 5,552 young men and 6,802 young women have taken part in 829 awareness programmes and 401 people have obtained guidance in Udupi under the programme.
Additional deputy commissioner B Sadashiva Prabhu, district panchayat assistant secretary, K R Fadnekar, district health and family welfare officer, Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda, district police department’s N G Charan, Nehru Yuva Kendra district officer, Wilfred D’Souza, municipal commissioner, Udaya Shetty, advisory committee members, Yuva Spandana’s Shamala Kiran, Narasimha Ganiga, Chetan Kumar, Parthasarathi Kunjarugiri and Jyothi P N were present.
