Mangaluru: Blood donation camp held at Milagres College

Mangaluru, Feb 13: The Youth Red Cross and National Service Scheme of Milagres College, her, in association with the Indian Red Cross Society of Dakshina Kannada on February 13 organised a blood donation camp.

The programme was inaugurated by Archibald Menezes, the treasurer of the Indian Red Cross Society of Dakshina Kannada. In his message he conveyed, “Blood donation is a noble cause and service to society. It can be one of the reasons to give life to an individual.” He appreciated the blood donors who had voluntarily come forward to donate blood.

President of the programme, Fr Michael Santhumayor, principal of Milagres College said that blood donation will help to improve the immune system and the blood donation camp has been an annual feature of the college. The institution is privileged to render this service to the needy.

Praveen Kumar, coordinator of the Indian Red Cross Society, Dakshina Kannada, Cassin Rodrigues, vice-principal, the student secretaries of Youth Red Cross and NSS were present on the occasion.

Youth Red Cross convener, Joel Pereira welcomed the gathering and the NSS programme officer, Denzil Pinto proposed the vote of thanks. Student representative, Anusha Monteiro compered the programme.

Around 52 blood donors took part in the programme by donating blood.
