Delhi court grants bail to climate activist Disha Ravi in Toolkit case

New Delhi, Feb 23 (IANS): A Delhi Court on Tuesday granted bail to climate activist Disha Ravi in the Greta Thunberg 'Toolkit' conspiracy case.

Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana allowed the bail to the accused on the condition of two surety of Rs one lakh each.

During the three-hour-long bail hearing on February 20, the police said that the 'Toolkit' was a sinister design to defame India and cause violence.

"Poetic Justice Foundation and Sikhs For Justice in order to hide their involvement, used Disha Ravi as a front to carry out nefarious activity," Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju told the court, adding that these organisations are connected to the Khalistani movement.

The Delhi Police further told the city court that Ravi covered her track and deleted evidence like contents of the Toolkit and a WhatsApp group, which the public prosecutor emphasized showed her "guilty mind".

Ravi's counsel Advocate Siddharth Agarwal, however, claimed there is no evidence linking the Toolkit to the violence during the farmers' march on January 26.

Ravi faces charges of conspiracy and sedition in the 'Toolkit' conspiracy case related to the farmers' agitation and was arrested from Bengaluru on February 13.

The Delhi Police have contended that the google document tweeted by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg to back the farmers' protest and then deleted, was created by Ravi and two other activists -- Jacob and Muluk.

any government, state government or central government must be held accountable when they break laws by arresting innocent people, under the guise of assumed charges and misleading the courts initially to obtain arrest warrants, Its only when courts go through in detail they realise govt enities/officials concoct cases against innocent people and grant them bail, By then the person arrested goes through the mental trauma also sending wrong messages that it is not fair to fight for truth? I support government when to take action against genuine culprits who cause damage to country in this case, just because she supported farmers protest and she was illegally picked up from Karnataka and taken again illegally to Delhi, govt and its cops must be booked for atrocities.

That's the typical path treaded by the likes of Savarkar, who promptly rendered apologies to powerful British Netas to save his skin and there were others like the Mahathma, Sardar Patel, Pandith Nehru etc for whom the values they believed in were of more importance than anything else and nothing could deter them from their resolve/dissent. The judge has made great statements against the Delhi police for acting to promote the anti-democratic Central Government. The judge has clearly said that a citizen's voice against a Government must be allowed if the society wants a democracy. There was absolutely nothing in Disha Ravi's spoken words or writings that she was against India, but PLENTY against the UNDEMOCRATIC ways of the present Central Government. My vote is for Disha Ravi.

It has become a norm under BJP that anyone who disagrees with them or their ideology are anti National. Many of their great leaders migrated from Pakistan. Some religious leaders also make a meal out of this antinational drama. People should read the full observations made by this High Court Judge and then talk about it. Delhi Police might try to fix another fake case on her under the orders of their master.

Dear Hebri, PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE JUDGEMENT BEFORE PASSING YOUR AUTOCRATIC COMMENTS: Disha Ravi arrest No sedition or call to violence in toolkit: Delhi court judgment on Disha Ravi bail The judgment questioned Delhi police’s attempt to link Disha Ravi to the violence in Delhi on January 26, and said that disagreeing with state policies does not mean citizens should be put behind bars. Prajwal Bhat , Sanyukta Dharmadhikari Tuesday, February 23, 2021 - 19:38 Delhi's Patiala House Court on Tuesday granted bail to 22-year-old climate activist Disha Ravi, noting that the Delhi police had not produced any evidence to suggest that she subscribed to any ‘secessionist’ idea. Pronouncing the order, Judge Dharmender Rana observed that the crime of sedition is not made out by sharing a toolkit and that just being an editor of an 'innocuous' toolkit is not an offence....
