Madonna Setting Wrong Example for Young Girls: Helen Reddy

Toronto, Jul 2 (IANS): Australian pop icon Helen Reddy has blasted Madonna for setting the wrong example for young girls who want to dress like her.

"The I Am Woman" hitmaker, who has retired from music since releasing her Grammy-winning hit in 1970, was left shocked during a recent shopping trip for innerwear as the store's selection was too racy. And Reddy blames the Madonna for inspiring girls to dress like strippers.

"I was in London earlier this year, and... I go into the women's lingerie department, and they've got pasties - you know, like strippers wear," Reddy said.

"It is horrifying to me to see these little girls, you know...trying to imitate the latest video they've seen."

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the British singer has scoffed at Reddy's allegations saying that it was not Madonna's fault if she couldn't find appropriate innerwear, reports torontosun.com.
