Mumbai: Covid violations - BMC collects Rs 42,000 as fines

Mumbai, Feb 26: A total of 208 commuters on Western Railway (WR) and Central Railway (CR) were issued challans by the BMC for not wearing mask. The amount collected totalled to Rs 42,400 in fines.

The Government Railway Police released the data on Thursday, February 25. Maximum challans were issued at CSMT which counted to 130 followed by 35 at Wadala and 10 at Andheri.

After chief minister Udhav Thackeray's appeal, police were given power to issue challans and fine Rs 200.
