Kundapur, Feb 27: “Why do we need a government that does not respond to the grievances of people during the corona pandemic?” asked Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar. “BJP at the centre and the state are running the governments forgetting the welfare of people. The government’s harassment has increased after the pandemic. While financial crisis is created, ordinary people are devastated by the exorbitant prices of essential commodities. People are anguished due to the anti-people administration of the governments. We are awakening the government at this juncture through Janadhwani Padayatra,” he said.

He spoke on Saturday February 27 during the conclusion at Byndoor of the Congress Janadhwani Padayatra from Hejmady to Byndoor held against government’s anti-people policies. “Janadhwani Padayatra is not a Congress programme but a symbol of people’s pain. People are showing their everyday pain and suffering through this rally. All the leaders have shown their unity in the rally making the government open their eyes,” he said.

“Corporation Bank, Syndicate Bank and Vijaya Bank which were born here once upon a time were nationalized by the late Indira Gandhi. Why was the local MP quiet though the banks were merged all of a sudden? Did the government not bury the banks that gave strength to the nation?” he asked.

“The government has failed to listen to the voice of the people. The farmers in the country are campaigning relentlessly but the prime minister is not visiting them to listen to their demands. The government is busy privatizing government establishments,” he said.

“While the earlier government stressed on nationalization, the current government is privatizing the organizations. Jobs are not created. Weavers, members of Savita Samaja and tailors lost six month’s work during Lockdown. The government did not respond to the pain of those who lost work for months. Fishermen are not getting diesel subsidy since the last five months. Whom should they speak to? Why do we need the government that does not respond to the problems of people?” he asked.

“Janadhwani Padayatra will continue in all the districts. Congress flag will fly high again at Vidhan Saudha in 2023,” he said confidently.

Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Abhayachandra Jain, Pramod Madhwaraj, former MLA K Gopal Poojary, M A Gafoor, Mithun Rai, district Congress president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, Raju Poojary, Madan Kumar, Pradeep Kumar Shetty Gudibettu and others were present.

My dear friends, please dont disheartened. Whatever govt does, it does for the benefit of the people. Why the diesel increased? Its because, we people do not walk. We take our vehicl to the next complex for buying one match box also....Why the banks are merged ? Those who wanted to do business and wanted to contribute towards the development of our country, they took loan over loan till the banks have become dummy. Before our country's development, world should develop. So, many defaulters are sent to the different countries of the world to buy islands. Once foreign countries develop by those crook defaulters, our country will under develop and there wont remain any bank here. Hope and pray our country won't be merged with our neighborhood...Since the aadhar cards are linked with the bank account, our government knows people have money. Many may say bpl, poor etc...but account details are known. Days are really really bad ahead...Really, i feel pity at the people, how they run from morning to night to earn their livelihood and just look at the government!!!

Dear DKS, bjp got so arrogant because of a weak opposition. I really appreciate and acknowledge all that the Congress has contributed to this country. But now you guys are not even an opposition. The people dont have a choice. And thats why they are behind bjp. Come out with strong leadership sort out your differences and gather around so you be an opposition to recknon with and then not just bjp but even modi shah adani ambani everyone will listen to you and ofcourse the people
