Bengaluru, Feb 28: Leader of opposition Siddaramaiah is off to Delhi on Sunday, February 28 to attend the marriage of AICC chief secretary Randeep Surjewala's son. He will return to Bengaluru on Sunday itself.

There is a possibility that Siddaramaiah will meet Rahul Gandhi and K C Venugopal after attending the marriage. He is likely to discuss the issue of Congress-JD (S) alliance in the recently held mayor and deputy mayor election of Mysuru city corporation. He is also expected to give details of the alleged unilateral decision that was taken by KPCC president D K Shivakumar. It is said that he is going to explain the consequences of such acts of Shivakumar on the party.

The mayoral election of Mysuru was a prestige issue for all the three political parties. BJP was keen on holding the reins. However, due to the support of Congress, JD(S) candidate became the mayor. The alliance took place as per the directions of D K Shivakumar. This embarrassed Siddaramaiah, who is the leader of Mysuru region. It is said that he is going to discuss this issue with high command during his visit to Delhi.

Many Congress leaders including from speaker Ramesh Kumar had expressed rage on this issue in the meeting that was held at KPCC office two days ago. Former speaker Ramesh Kumar directly questioned Shivakumar and asked, "How did you take the decision without discussing the same among the party members? Why should we be there if you are going to take decisions alone? Have you taken the permission of the Congress Legislature Party?"

Giving clarification for his decision, Shivakumar said, "This is not my decision but one taken by Tanvir Sait. There is no high command for our local politics. So I told him to go ahead. I have not made any mistakes."

Senior leaders had urged the party to issue notice to Tanvir Sait, and Siddaramaiah had just said that this development has disappointed him.
