Bengaluru, Mar 3: A sexually explicit video tape containing intimate moments of water resources minister, Ramesh Jarkiholi, in the company of a lady has created turmoil in the state politics. Social activist Dinesh Kallahalli, has complained to the police, claiming that Jarkiholi has posed death threat to the lady with whom he indulged in sex.
The tape is being widely shared and there is an increasing demand for his resignation from the ministry. Greatly disturbed by the developments, Ramesh Jarkiholi left his home on Tuesday night to an undisclosed destination. He is likely to meet chief minister B S Yediyurappa, on Wednesday to furnish explanations about the developments.
Ramesh had left his home at Bengaluru on Tuesday night. It was said that he would go to Delhi to meet national leaders of the BJP. But Jarkiholi, who was on his way to the airport, escaped from the media persons, changed his plans and went somewhere else. He neither went to the airport nor returned home. Therefore, his future moves have given rise to curiosity.
Jarkiholi is seeking to wriggle out of the problem through legal recourse. He has prepared to fight the allegation legally through lawyers. It is said that Ramesh Jarkiholi has prepared to hit back legally and prepared for the same by staying within the city.
The state cabinet is set to meet on Wednesday. It is not known whether Jarkiholi will take part in it. It is said that there is pressure from certain quarters to drop Jarkiholi from the ministry because of the embarrassment faced by the BJP and the government due to the release of the said video.
Dinesh Kallahalli had said that the distressed lady is not appearing before the media because of an environment of fear. He had said that he would reveal everything once the complaint is registered. Ramesh Jariholi on his part has claimed that he does know about the identity of the woman in question and that he is not the one seen in the tape. He said that guilty should be punished, duly making it clear that he does not plan to resign as he is not at fault.
Meanwhile, state home minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Wednesday March 3, said that inquiry has been ordered into allegations of sex for favours scandal involving minister Ramesh Jarkiholi. He also informed that BJP high command will take a call on demand for his resignation from cabinet.
