Udupi: Thieves decamp with gold, valuables worth Rs 3,56,000 at Hiriadka

Udupi, Mar 4: Thieves broke into the house of Angelisa, the owner of Angel driving school removing the latch of the back door of the house and escaped with gold ornaments, property records, laptop and other valuables worth Rs 3,56,000. The incident occured on Tuesday, March 2.

Angelisa, who is staying with her daughter had gone to work at 9.45 am locking the house. When she returned from work at 5.45 pm and went behind the house to see the chicken she found that the back door of her house was open and the latch removed. When she went inside her bedroom, to her shock, she found that her wardrobe was ransacked.

The drawers on the left of her wardrope were opened with a tool and a Karimani chain weighing 70 grams worth Rs 1,40,000, a gold chain weighing 20 grams worth Rs 40 thousand, gold bangles worth Rs 40,000 weighing 20 grams, Gold chain weighing 26 gram worth Rs 52,000, 24 gram gold chain worth Rs 48,000, two pairs ear rings weighing one gram each worth Rs 6,000 and two pairs earrings weighing two gram each worth Rs 16,000 were missing.

Besides that, thieves have stolen property papers and other documents, a laptop kept on the dining table worth Rs 5,000, leg silver Gejje worth Rs 9,000 kept in the handbag. The total value of gold ornaments stolen is Rs 3,42,000. It amounts to Rs 3,56,000 including the cost of leg silver Gejje and laptop. A police case under serial No. 7/2021 section 454 and 380 is registered at Hiriadka police station.
