Udupi: Locals clean trash thrown beside NH 66, fine people throwing it

Udupi, Mar 4: Some people with the help of local groups had cleaned trash thrown on both sides of National Highway 66 from Karavali junction to Kundapur – Mangaluru highway on February 13. Inspections were held frequently at the spot after it and those who threw trash were fined.

Despite cleaning, the passers-by continued throwing trash. Senior health inspector of Udupi municipal council Shashirekha and staff fined a lorry driver after he was caught throwing trash near Abharan Motors, Nittur.

The additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu who was arriving that way confronted the lorry driver who had thrown the trash and warned him. He asked the council officials to keep a watch and take legal action against people throwing waste.
