Mangaluru: Idols, puja equipment found from ancient well

Mangaluru, Mar 10: An idol of the Daiva and puja equipment were found from an ancient well said to be about 300 years old, which had been buried. This finding was made at the land belonging to the family of Balkunje Mooduguthu lineage.

It is believed that several Daivas had settled at this spot, and elder members of Mooduguthu family used to perform puja and other rituals to appease the divine powers from time to time.

In course of time, the land was disposed of and others became owners of the land as Mooduguthu family members left the place and settled down in different towns and cities. In the recent years, they had come together, and had decided to re-establish and renovate the resting place of the Daivas and resume the traditions of puja and venerations to earn their blessings. They also acquired some land for the purpose.

The family invited Diwakar Poojary attached to Koragajja Kshetra at Jarigekatte, Mundkoor, and arranged for 'Daiva Darshana', a process of invoking the divine powers. At the time of the Daiva Darshana, Poojary advised the family to dig out the ancient well which he said had been buried now. He also predicted that idol of the Daiva and puja equipment would be found inside the well.

On Monday, the old well was dug, and the idol and other things as predicted have been recovered, said family head, Mallika Shetty.

Predictions are good provided that turn out to be real otherwise it will cost life and fortune to reverse the loses. In this case he may had rough knowledge on that community and surrounding of the ancestors which turned out to be correct to dig the well and get the ancaster belonging. Very impressive and makes family members proud of their ancestors. It is a great moment to touch and feel of ancestors belonging even though they are not alive. Blessed people.
