St Peter’s Association Celebrates Patron Saint’s Day

The metro-based St Peter’s Association Barkoor celebrated their patron Saint’s Day at Holy Family Church, Chakala, Andheri (East), here on Sunday July 11. 

St Peter’s Association is formed by Barkoor parishioners in Udupi who are now settled in metro.  The Association has been helping the economically weaker children in the parish in their native Barkoor and continues to do their mite for the prosperity of Barkoor and their brethrens in metro.
 
Fr Leopold Suares SJ, parish priest of Holy Family offered the thanksgiving holy mass.



In his homily he said that the saints’ lives are worthy for emulation among the faithful, in order to get eternal reward after life on earth.  The saints intercede with God when the faithful pray relentlessly to fulfill their wishes.  The celebration of Patron Saint’s Day every year also brings together brethrens, to thank for the graces and intercession received by them. 
 
St Peter’s Association Barkoor president Richard Carvalho presided over the function.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the celebration of Patron Saint’s Day is indeed very meaningful since it gives an opportunity for all those who seek their graces in times of trials and tribulations by the brethrens. 
 
Richard Carvalho welcomed entrepreneur and philanthropist Harry Rebello, singer Victor Concesso. Association’s former president Henry Roche, vice- presidents Simon V Furtado and Norbert Menezes were present on the dais.
 
Association former president Felix Barnes gave a brief account of social service and humanitarian deeds done by the association since past two and a half decades. Secretary Ivan Rebello read the annual report.  Eric Rebello offered the prayers.  Joylan Fernandes compered the programme.  Ivan Rebello proposed the vote of thanks.  Variety entertainment programmes were also organized on the occasion.
