Canacona, Mar 11: A decomposed body of a US national identified as 55-year-old Rafi Kennin was found in a rented room at Agonda, Canacona, earlier in the week on Monday.

Police sources stated that Kennin has been dead for three days. “We found Kennin hanging in the kitchen of the rented room,” Canacona police inspector Tulshidas Naik said.

Kennin was not seen for a few days, the owner of the rented room told the police.

As per police reports, people had found him to be disturbed. Naik said that a case of unnatural death has been registered and that it is suspected that Kennin died by suicide. Kennin had arrived in the country prior to the Covid-19 lockdown in February 2020 and thereafter had got stranded due to the pandemic, police sources said. His visa was valid up to 2025.

It is said that the foreign national had been a regular visitor to Agonda for more than a decade and was well-known in the area. Deputy superintendent of police Kiran Poduval visited the spot along with Naik after which the body was sent for a postmortem examination to the Goa Medical College.
