Mangaluru: Dumping of waste into sea – Police seize truck, hand it over to municipality authorities

Mangaluru, Mar 12: Ullal police have confiscated the truck that is alleged to have dumped a truck load of waste into the sea under the limits of Ullal city municipality limits. The truck was confiscated on Thursday March 11.

On March 9, a truck had thrown a load of waste, including thermocol sheets into the sea under Ullal city municipality limits. This act was caught on mobile by the locals. As the incident came to the knowledge of the municipality commissioner, he ordered the truck to be confiscated.

Ullal police acted accordingly, confiscated the truck and handed over it to Ullal city municipality. The registered owner of the vehicle is G Usman and driven by Abdul Khader. The truck was seized and handed over to Shajith, senior health inspector, city municipal council, Ullal. 

City municipality has the right to impose a fine up to Rs one lac on those who dump waste into the sea.
