MEGA Foundation honours Mangalurean Aroona Bhat with Mega Achiever award

Media Release

Mumbai, Mar 12: Aroona Bhat from Mangaluru has been bestowed the honour of Mega Achiever under the Woman Entrepreneur Icon category by the Make Earth Green Again (MEGA) Foundation.

"Bringing about a change in the mindset of people is never easy, especially when the subject matter involved is period pain that has been engraved in our minds to be normal. We all grown-up neglecting this which leads to unwanted complications, tremendous suffering and unnecessary pain," Bhat said. She also admitted to having suffered the pain.

"By standing with me in my endeavour, the MEGA Foundation has given me faith and infused extra zing, that extra impetus to spread the message of 'period pain not being normal'. I wish to reach more and more young girls and ladies of the future generation. While also hoping that the aspect of period pain will be looked at as something from the past. I do hope to achieve this in my lifetime," she added.

Dr Madhu Krishan an eminent scientist, social reformer and activist who is also the founder and chairman of the Academy of Universal Global Peace gave away the award.

"The award was for empowering women through my support group, Let's TAPP (Let's Talk About Period Pain) as women struggle with period pain. The group is involved in informing women that period pain is not normal and suggesting, guiding, and helping them with alternates," Dr Krishan said.
