Mangaluru, Mar 15: Bank employees of Dakshina Kannada district began their two-day strike as per the call given by United Forum of Bank Union (UFBU), an umbrella body of nine bank unions, condemning the announcement of privatization of two banks of public sector and one insurance company.

The protesters gathered near the Balmatta Circle in the city on the morning of Monday March 15 and raised slogans against the union government. They also held protest in front of mini Vidhana Soudha in the city. Customers of the banks are facing inconvenience because of two-day strike of the bank employees.

More than 2,000 employees throughout the district are participating in the protest. This protest will continue on Tuesday, March 16 also. Services such as deposits and withdrawal at branches, cheque clearance, and loan approvals are affected due to the strike. However, ATMs are likely to remain functional.

It may be recalled, the UFBU called for a two-day nationwide strike on March 15 and 16 against the privatisation of Public Sector Banks and retrograde banking reforms.

Over 10 lakh bank employees and officers will participate in the strike.

All nine banks unions namely All India Bank Officers' Confederation (AIBOC), All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), National Confederation of Bank Employees (NCBE), All India Bank Officers' Confederation (AIBOC), Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI), Indian National Bank Employees Federation (INBEF), Indian National Bank Officers' Congress (INBOC) and National Organisation of Bank Officers (NOBO) and the National Organisation of Bank Workers (NOBW) are part of the strike called by the UFBU.

If the same effort these lazy, arrogant bankers would work in the damr zest n gusto in the bank situation in bank will be different. Privatisation of banks will improve efficiency in banking services to consumers. There will be targets set and it will be performance based employment. Privatisations of banks very essential, need of the hour to save banks from being lost to oblivion. If a person works and gets salary from any bank, their service should be matching their performance in productivity. If their lacking efficiency they should be chucked out. The world is changing, banking is becoming competitive. Provide service to publuc and survive. Stop this communist style of hartal. Its only causing inconvenience to general public. The eyre of public is against these lazy bums. They have energy to protest and welcome negative attention, but don't have the ability to improvise banking experience in their respective banks. Clerical attitude, whether we work or not, bank pays our salary. This clerical attitude of banking staff should change. I protest such fake self sympathy creating hartal. Its against public welfare. These fellow bankers are working against public interest, unwarranted, uncalled for childish behaviour

Most in the banks are talented and educated at least when they entered the banking services. Most of them do not have mask or have mask which has been rendered useless. To cover most people in frame, they have thrown social distancing to the dustbin. It is almost like COVID is just another rumor or superstition and we do not take it seriously anymore?

Today saw some of the SMARTEST group of WELL DRESSED people giving lecture in front of Mini Vidhan Soudha about their achievements in last 50 years. they forgot to say, they don't entertain customers unless they know them personally, they give sh*t to customers needing help, sitting in AC enjoying for most days, they had a 11am to 1pm outing and entire day off, severely affecting people who go to branch, but these people never bothered about customers, so why will they bother these two days. So Union office bearers need to justify their existence and the money they get from the unions, comparing themselves to FARMERS. Also Most are UNMASKED now (literally!!), educated BANK employees?? How much respect for medical guidelines? So should they get respect back?

Modiji ne kiya hoga toh kuch soch ke hi kiya hoga. Too late. 1)Railways 2)Airports 3) Steel Factories 4) Banks 6) Internet 7) Media (news channels) The above already in process of privatisation so that BJP gets 'Amdani' to fight elections from 'Hum Do - Hamare do' 8) The next highest consumption and profit is in Agriculture and Education. Resistance has been met, thus it will gradually happen. Once all this is done, the financial capital will move from Mumbai to Gujarat. You will find all Gujus employed in airports, banks, Railways etc. What will rest of the Indians do? Vote for BJP to privatize our lives. Thank You All.

It looks like our govt has gone into privatization... railways, agriculture, electricity, airport many public sector has gone under privatization... hell soon this country will be no longer a democratic country it will be a private business people owned country where probably they will even charge us for air.. hell in name of prosperity country will go in poverty leaving a group of people... Selling public assest to private is not vikas its incompetency of the most highly incompetents...!! the govt is incapable of turning a loss making entity into a profit ones whereas the private sector is capable of doing it. Then what is the point of electing this Incapable government?? I sometimes wonder is the current government a franchisee of OLX?

Public sector banks might look as slow in a few areas and also service standard needs to be improved as in several other organisations , but then, safety of one's hard earned money is paramount to the general public. Every one is aware what happened to two of the private sector banks just last year only, one had to be bailed out by a public sector bank and another one had to be offered to a foreign bank at a throw away price. The money saved by the public by their sweat and blood was ensured to be safe. Depositors interest is always protected, at times, at the cost of poor share holders whose fingers get burnt as their investment gets zeroised. Public do not notice the failure of private sector banks as their money is not at all lost, thanks to government relying on public sector banks in case of failure of such private sector banks. Year after year, we are witnessing the failure of several private sector banks, co-operative banks etc. Hence, government need to re-look at its proposal of privatising two of the public sector banks. Definitely, public sector banks are the temples of finance, more so for the common man.
